16 years have passed.  Since Bishop Patrick J. McGrath assumed his responsibilities of Bishop of San Jose, Vietnamese Catholics have been granted  the following institutions:

- A Vietnamese personal parish,
- Three Vietnamese congregations in local parishes,
- A Vietnamese cultural center
- An office of a Vicar for Vietnamese ministry
- A Chapel of Vietnamese Martyrs.

In order to express gratitude to Bishop Patrick McGrath; Bishop Pierre DuMaine, former Bishop of San Jose; the entire diocese of San Jose; especially Saint Maria Goretti Parish, the Vietnamese Catholic community Inc. has donated its property located at 685 Singleton Road, San Jose, CA 95111 to San Jose diocese, which will be used by St. Maria Goretti parish to honor Vietnamese Martyrs and promote Vietnamese culture.

Bishop McGrath and other high dignitaries of the diocese will come to the property site to attend a ceremony for the transfer which will take place on Sunday, May 19, 2002. A new phase has started in the Vietnamese Catholic community in San Jose diocese for reconciliation, unity and compassion.
